<p>Start/Stop Deactivator for Giulia/Stelvio- 2016 to Present. </p> <h4>Deactivates Start/Stop. No more trying to remember to push the off button. This is a real deactivator, comes with plastic wedge tool and instructions to install. </h4> <p><strong>PLUG AND PLAY!!!! No special tools, no mechanic or programming needed! </strong></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Introduction</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Currently manufactured cars are equipped with start&amp;stop (S&amp;S) system. It is used for reducing emissions when the car is steady. Unfortunately, practical operation of S&amp;S has multiple disadvantages, especially in cars with an automatic gearbox. In most cases users experience redundant, short engine off/on toggles just for a few seconds, as they have no influence on the moment when the system kicks in. Such toggles are not only inconvenient, but sometimes a bit dangerous – for instance when a car is approaching a main road where visibility is limited and the car needs to be stopped. The engine is stopped by S&amp;S system. Driver would like to be able to immediately join the traffic, but engine restart adds potentially dangerous delay which works against doing traffic join safely.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Aside of this, when S&amp;S kicks in, the climate control system does not work efficiently and the car battery is additionally discharged (car lights, wipers, radio and additional engine restart), which results often in a non-optimally charged battery.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Although the car manufacturer has provided a button for the deactivation of the S&amp;S system, its last state is not stored – the next ignition toggle restores the S&amp;S system back to an activated status, and the driver needs to remember to turn it off again. </span></p> <div></div> <div> <div class="page" title="Page 2"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Use</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">SSD952.949 device is used for an automatic S&amp;S deactivation shortly after an ignition is turned on. It is compatible with Alfa Romeo Giulia 2016+ and Stelvio 2017+.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Installation (plastic pry tool and instructions come with unit) takes about 2-3 minutes. </span></p> <div></div> <div> <div class="page" title="Page 2"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Device use</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">SSD952.949 comes configured to disable the S&amp;S as a factory setting after the ignition is turned on. In case the user would like to temporarily enable the S&amp;S operation, it can be done by the car’s S&amp;S button press. After next ignition toggle the SSD952.949 will disable the S&amp;S.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">A non-volatile deactivation of the SSD952.949 device is also possible. To do so, it is necessary to carry out 8 presses of the car’s S&amp;S button with a delay not shorter than 1 second and not longer than 3 seconds. Successful deactivation is indicated by 8 blinks of the car’s S&amp;S light on the panel S&amp;S button.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">In order to re-activate the SSD952.949 device repeat the same procedure as for the deactivation.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Other notes</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Each SSD952.949 device passes hundreds of electrical tests on an automated tester, as well as randomly selected production samples are visually screened and mechanically checked for robustness, what guarantees top quality of the final product.</span></p> <h4><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">Warranty and other claims</span></h4> <h4><span style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:small;">We provide a 2-year warranty for the SSD952.949 device failures. The SGW blocks and separates CAN buses of a car. Its main purpose is to increase security against hacker access to car’s CAN modules through wireless interfaces available in the car. Unfortunately for users, it does not allow full use of OBD diagnostics without digital keys that are only available on FCA servers, and as result active OBD diagnostics (DTC error erase, tests, change of proxi configuration, dyno mode activation) is not possible, only read mode is available. Because of that servicing in independent garages is practically not available (e.g. no possibility to clear oil change inspection), as 3</span><span style="font-size:5pt;vertical-align:3pt;">rd </span><span style="font-size:7pt;">party OBD diagnostic tools do not support downloading of the SGW unlock keys, and it is likely that even if they gain such feature in the future, the key will not be available for free. According to information received from FCA support, FCA does not plan any option of deactivation of the SGW, even after warranty is expired, which practically forces car owners to service their cars in authorised service centres (or in garages that buy the expensive Witech2 diagnostic tool and the subscriptions).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Use</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">SGB0001 device is used for bypassing the SGW module in compatible FCA cars (these with the SGW existing as a separate unit). It unlocks the option of full diagnostics carried out with the use of 3</span><span style="font-size:5pt;vertical-align:3pt;">rd </span><span style="font-size:7pt;">party OBD tools in independent garages. Disconnect the car battery. Unplug the car loom plugs connected to the SGW module, and plug them into the SGW bypass device. Reconnect the car battery. At this stage a full access from OBD diagnostic tools is available.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Example of the SGW location:</span></p> </li> <li> <div class="page" title="Page 1"></div> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">The SGW module in a left hand drive Alfa Romeo Giulia is located beside a steering column.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">It is necessary to remove the plastic panel on right side, located slightly above the acceleration pedal, and then the one above the pedals (two TX20 bolts), disconnect the foot area light connectors (if such option is available in the car setup), remove the clip that holds leg area air ducts and push them slightly aside to gain access to the SGW module</span></p> </li> </ul></div> <div class="column"> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">SGW plugs have springing locks – it is necessary to press the lock with finger towards cables and pull the plug out of the SGW module holding only the plug (do not pull cables as it may stress or damage the loom). Installation time for Alfa Romeo Giulia is 2-10 minutes typically, depending on practice.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">In Alfa Romeo Stelvio (LHD), bypass is located o on the left to steering wheel column, beside radio unit. Best access to install the bypass is after removing glasses compartment door. Access from bottom side is more difficult, requires unbolting radio unit and there is very limited space there.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Device removal</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Disconnect car battery, unplug car looms from the SGW bypass device, insert plugs back into the SGW module, install back all the panels and other items removed during installation, and connect the battery.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Other notes</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Components selected for SGW0001 bypass device come from industry leading suppliers/manufacturers.<br />Each bypass device passes 800 electrical tests on automated tester, as well as is visually screened and mechanically checked for robustness, what guarantees top quality of the final product.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:7pt;">Although the car drives normally with the SGW bypass device plugged in instead of the SGW module, what has been tested without a single issue during a few months long test of daily car use, it is not recommended to do so.
